Up

Up is an American computer-animated children’s movie, rated ‘U’. It was produced by Pixar Animation Studios

It is about an old man named Carl Fredricksen and a boy named Russell who accompanies him on a journey to Paradise Falls. At the beginning of the movie, it shows Carl’s life from when he was a young boy and how he met his wife Ellie.

It quickly shows how they spent most of their life together and how her dream was to travel to Paradise Falls.
However, this did not proceed as Ellie grew old, so Carl and little wilderness ‘genius’ Russell, who he had just met the day before, had to go on the adventure alone.

Along the way there is laughter and tears as well as an action packed comedy adventure. You will learn to love both Russell and Carl as the movie goes on, you will also meet some new friends, which brings more laughs.

X-Men Origins – Wolverine

If you’re expecting this to be another comic strip film, like the “X-Men” trilogy, you thought wrong. X-Men Origins – Wolverine is a lot more realistic and believable, whereas, X-Men is based more on the comic side of the story. The characters do not use their comic names in the movie such as Sabretooth and Blob, this makes it seem more real and convincing.

The prequel, directed by Gavin Hood, has a great storyline about revenge and the origin of Wolverine before the X-Men. Two mutant brothers, James and Victor, born 200 years ago, suffer childhood trauma and have only each other to depend on. They're fighters and killers, living through the American Civil War, World War I, World War II, and eventually the Vietnam War using their mutant powers and healing abilities. In modern times, a U.S. General, Stryker, recruits them and other mutants such as Wade Wilson, Agent Zero, Fred Dukes, John Wraith and Bradley. After too much death and destruction, James, using his second name Logan quits and becomes a logger, falling in love with a local teacher.

When Logan refuses to rejoin Stryker's crew, the General sends Victor to cause trouble for Logan. Logan now wants revenge on his brother, and undergoes a procedure to inject a strong metal, adamantium, onto his bones so he may become virtually indestructible. Due to his rage and blood lust, Logan is now Wolverine.

I was looking forward to seeing this film as I enjoyed the X-Men trilogy. The special effects were amazing and the actors were awesome. I think this film is suitable for over 12s as it is a 12A film. There was humour, action and excitement packed into this action/thriller and I strongly recommend it to all those comic geeks and everyone else as well! :D
